To improve security in Windows platform, with the new Windows new releases of Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, the isolation of users on the same computer is much higher than before. In some means, it is better to understand this phenomenal as you are dealing with 2 computers linked together with network connection. This will create the issue updating QwikQuote your sales Quoting Software and invoicing software in use.
The key point here is the installation will actually run under the name or privilege of built-in Administrator. This is because when you start to run the setup or update installation executable, the program start as normal user and then it will raise to built-in Administrator rights so that the installation program has enough rights to modify the computer system by making it the right environment the installed Quoting Software and invoice software program can run properly
However, QwikQuote network license configuration is done by each workstation user on their computer in the Quoting Software and invoicing software system. For older Windows computers such as Windows 9x, Windows XP, Windows 2000 computers, this configuration result can be accessed by all users. However, for Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2 and similar computers, each configuration can only be seen by the logon user who did the configuration. This is result of higher isolations among user on those computers in your sales Quoting Software system.
The result is when you not logon as administrator and do QwikQuote network client workstation configuration by reference to QwikQuote Server location, there will be no QwikQuote Network License information for built-in Administrator. This leads to the following messages and the QwikQuote Update setup will not continue correctly when try to update your QwikQuote sales Quoting Software and invoicing software tool.
The 1st information you might see that says your license is not valid
for the update version
such as the following screenshot shows:
Then the QwikQuote Update installation of your sales Quoting Software system does
not include the new version
and the update installation will stop with the following message:
And the QwikQuote Update.exe exits and stops.
To further understand this issue, if you try to run QwikQuote Setup Wizard as your
normal logon user,
you will see your Network License and server location as screenshot below:
Where yo can see your proper QwikQuote Networ license and the QwikQuote Server
Location correctly.
However, if you try to use right-mouse click at the
QwikQuote Setup Wizard,
and choose the popup menu command
‘Run as Administrator’
such as screenshot below:
You will be ask by Windows USC to confirm to run the program qqLicConfigure.exe
such as the screenshot below:
and you need to press the Yes
button to run the QwikQuote Setup Wizard.
This time you will see the different information in QwikQuote Setup Wizard
for the program will actually run under the name of the Windows built-in user Administrator
and if you did not run in its name to configure to run as QwikQuote networks
station.
Which has no the network license information as you run in your logon User Name.
(Essentially, it shows the first time Administrator to run in free trial Demo
Mode.)
That is why when you try to install QwikQuote update in your quoting and invoicing
software system
and get the no proper license information not being to update properly.
